St. Moritz is one of the cradles of the game of polo in continental Europe. In 1899 the first polo field was laid out in St. Moritz-Bad on the initiative of a group of British cavalry officers who used to play polo as part of their military training and to while away the time. In 1959 the St. Moritz Polo Club was founded under the chairmanship of Dr P. R. Berry. Founder members included Andrea Badrutt, Peter Kaspar and Col. Lodi from Rome. Since 1960, the St. Moritz Polo Club has organised numerous summer and winter polo tournaments, such as the St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow.
The St. Moritz Polo Club has established a network for a limited circle of polo players and enthusiasts. Members of the Club have privileged entry to exclusive events and occasions that are not accessible to the public at large. Together with our partner, the Guards Polo Club in the UK, and other international connections, we offer you the opportunity to discover the unique world of polo all over the world. The Guards Polo Club and St. Moritz Polo Club have intensified their long-lasting partnership. We offer a reciprocal membership and the opportunity to attend selected events in the course of the year and to participate in several of the countless activities organised by the Guards Polo Club.
Would you like to actively experience and support the game of polo at international level, in Switzerland and, more especially, in St. Moritz? Why not join the St. Moritz Polo Club?
